Lesson Plan Blog

I would like to know how you feel about your lesson plan that you and/or your partner created. Have you had any problems about it? We are getting to the end of the semester. I would like to know how you feel about the class. What do you think we should have done it differently? What do you think you have learned from this class? Do you think it is a must for today teachers to know how to use the technology in classroom?

My lesson plan that my partner and I worked on was very fun and interesting. Although my content area being math we did a lesson plan on track and field with a focus on running. I enjoyed exploring other content areas. We did not encounter any problems. It was a pretty easy going project to do together. This class was very informative. It has given me alot of insight on technology on the classroom and how technology can be very useful to my content area as well as others. We did have alot of work in this class so we were always busy so I guess one thing I would change would have the work load be less tideous but other than that all was good. I have learned that technology will not only benefit the teacher but will overall be very beneficial for the students. Technology should definitely be recognized in all classes and content areas.

More Technology in the classroom....Etec424

I think it is ok for educators to use game development to influence the academic achievement of students. I think educators should be able to go as far as they want with technology explaining all options, if and only if, in all cases it is beneficial to the student. Technology in class rooms should always be student-centered.

I think online chats and instant messaging could be of more value in the class rooms only if the teacher is able to find a way to monitor all conversations without violating any privacy rights, depending on the lesson. This new form of technology could possibly add to student's learning but also could become the new "trend", replacing text messaging in class rooms, and could lead to distractions.

I think it is beneficial having text-based communication versus synchronous face to face communication because more students have difficulty talking aloud or are afraid of embarrassment when speaking in the class room in front of their peers. So this text-based use of technology will most definitly be better and an easier way for more students to communicate their participation in the class room.

I think podcasting can enhance a students learning abilities just as much as all internet based websites that contribute to students education. So I do not see much of any change with podcasting versus all other technologies. It's just another way of delivering information.

Video gaming can help develop your studying but I am definitly curious as to see how well it will benefit students when it comes to mathematics. According to Can development, "video gaming is proven to help student with their math skills, comprehension, and all." I think as a teacher I could gain from video gaming only if it benefits my students. It could also benefit me by introducing new ways to present my lesson plans and curriculums.

Personality Type

My personality type is ESFJ. ESFJ stands for Extraverted Sensing Feeling Judging. I recieved 33% on Extraverted, 38% on Sensing, 38% on Feeling, and 22% on Judging. My personality type is categorized as being "The Caregivers".

Yes I do think students have different learning styles because of their personality types. Their personality is what defines most people and depending on what personality you have it could determine your will to be motivated or your desire to learn. I think peronality can affect learning styles just as learning styles can affect a student's personality. I would definitly use this survey in my classroom to help decifer between the different personality traits of students in my class room and how their minds operate. By the survey I could see how well they interact with others and see their outlook on life and how they percieve things as a whole.

Spreadsheet ETEC 424

Spreadsheets, in my opinion, are used to organize information for charts, activities in classrooms, budgets and etc. I recently used a spreadsheet to do my schedule for all of my colleague's hours and days of the week that they need to work.

Advantages of spreadsheets, again, are great in keeping you organized for any assignment and also has cool and interesting tools and techniques to use when designing your spreadsheet.

According to the Meaningful Learning With Technology Textbook, the three primary functions of spreadsheets are storing, calculating, and presenting information. I think these function are well defined for the use of spreadsheets because those are the basic functions that I use when I am creating my spreadsheet. So I think the author chose a good foundation in chosing these functions.

I would definitely use spreadsheets in my classroom to collaborate my activities with and of course apply to my lesson plans. Spreadsheets are a great technological device to use in the classroom and very easy way to make your class room teaching go more smoothly for you and your students.

Intake on Inspiration video and response to the text...

On Inspiration I found that it's basically a form of technology that sets a foundation for any classroom. It seems to be very convienient for teaching techniques in the classroom such as over head informationals, lesson plan presentations, and any other ideas you may have for its use. It's great for organization and outlining your specific goal for each class day. I would use Inspiration to help my lesson plans have a more clear and concise objective and an easier way for my stidents to follow this convienient use of technology.

Organization and planning writing would make the best use of technology in my classroom. I am going to be a high school math teacher and think this method would benefit me the most. However, my content area being math it's harder for writing to be incorporated into my lesson plan but I think organization planning would be the best option for me. Activities would include concept maps braintstorming along with other computer-based concept tools. During writing, I would help students help each other by having them get into small groups where they could elaborate and brainstorm before writing together. After students finish their assignments I could use technology tools such as inspiration and peer feedback writing tools by posting students work on the internet source, related to school, to have other students respond: sort of like e-college. The first time I had to teach some one how to do a math problem I was in the same math class with them and was very nervous about assisting them at first. I had insecurities about not helping them find the correct answer. However, once I got it and tutored them I felt much better and a sign of relief because they actually understood what I was saying and trying to convey to them. I also learned that teaching them helped me understand the information in ways that I could better understand it and I then became more familiar with the information.

My intake on Blogs...

I think blogs are an informal way of expressing your ideas and self to the web. I think blogs can be useful for education in a way that it help the student get more aware of their resources on the internet and it can be a tool for the teacher to use for assignments and also helps to get to know the students a little better. Helps stay in tune with the students personality, character, and what the student likes and dislikes are. Some people think that blogs in class rooms are a waste of the students time. I think that depending on how the teacher utilizes the blog use in her class room and demonstrates the appropriateness of them then it can be very useful for education and students in the class room.

In chapter 6 it shows how different technology ideas are used to implement success in the class room. Student created blogs, expert-created blogs, and teacher-created blogs are som of the best forms of teaching methods used to support curriculums and student learners. I would use them, being a Math teacher, by integrating the sudy of math and different math problems for students to attempt online then blog to me about the problems they ran into and how they feel about them.
